Effects of Forest Vegetation Restoration on Soil Organic Carbon and Its Labile Fractions in the Danxia Landform of China

The Danxia landform is a unique red bed in China. effects of vegetation restoration on soil organic carbon (SOC) components are still poorly understood the region southwest In this study, samples were collected from selected five different types (shrub (SH), mixed conifer–broadleaf forest (MCBF), evergreen broad-leaved (EBF), Chinese fir (CFF), and bamboo (BF)) at 0–30 cm depth to discuss concentrations stocks SOC its labile (LOC) fractions ((dissolved C (DOC), microbial biomass (MBC), easily oxidized (EOC)) their relationship with physicochemical properties enzyme activities. results indicated that contents LOC as well declined increasing types. At depth, BF CFF showed higher average total EOC compared SH, EBF, MCBF. highest DOC content was BF, but no significant differences observed among EBF significantly greater MBC than other positively correlated moisture three activities degrees under closely related nitrogen (TN) phosphorus (TP) except for TP negatively affected by pH (except MCBF) BD. Generally, TN, TP, invertase found be main driver factors accumulation. However, overall levels indicate had strongest storage capacity, followed EBF. This study can provide good reference ecosystem management selection appropriate strategies regions.
